What is a "Domain Name" and why do I need one?

A Domain Name is the text name which corresponds to the numeric IP address of a computer on the internet. When you think of a website and want to tell someone else about it you most always give them the domain name version of the web address. Domain names are followed by extentions (examples include .com, .net, .info, .org, and .edu).

Each website URL conatins a domain name and name combined with it's extention are completely unique to that site. You can not use the same domain name +extention for more than one site.
